Frequently Asked Questions
- Ryan still works and manages a full service digital marketing team focused on Amazon Sellers which by the way if you’re an Amazon Seller you should get in touch.
- We try to keep expenses as low as possible by living on anchor when sailing through the islands be it Bahamas or the Caribbean.
- We homeschool our Kids, Kai and Azura which we believe is giving them the best shot at a great life in this crazy place called earth.
We live on a monohull currently and try to do as much of the repairs and upkeep ourselves which keeps costs lower but yes things break and it can all add up. Living on a trawler / motorboat with multiple engines or a catamaran can add up to more costs when you buy an older boat as they have more expensive parts to replace and motorboats need way more fuel.
We sailed as a family over the weekends and holidays in South Africa and Ryan got his yachtmasters offshore before we left but as a family and group we had to eventually untie the lines and do some travelling together to get it all under control.
We had help when we crossed the South Atlantic from friends Ricus, Tyrone and Alex. Once in the Caribbean we often had the crew from @7setsail with us and they constantly join us for lengthier sailing adventures as well as just chilling out in the bahamas when we’re there.
Ryan was always a water baby with salt water flowing through his veins but sailing wasnt ever a part of his life until he came across Liz Clark who sailed around in Swell (https://swellvoyage.com/about/about-liz/) who managed to combine sailing and surfing and it just all seemed so perfect. He eventually managed to convince the rest of us to take the plunge and we havent looked back.
